The local government in the Swedish city of Gothenburg has put forward a proposal that would ban goods from occupying powers, including Israel.

“We think the taxpayers in Gothenburg do not want to be included in feeding the war machine”, the city’s deputy mayor, Daniel Bernmar, told Al Jazeera.

The city has seen protests against Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip for more than seven months.
